Shanna Zell: Blog

Summertime, and the living's pretty easy.

Dear Public Diary,
It's early Saturday morning. I wasn't planning to be awake, but the sunlight pouring in through the windows nudged me to get up a bit earlier than I had hoped (i.e. 7:30 am as opposed to a lazier 10 am). I'm laying in bed looking around my new studio apartment thankful for this quiet, clean 250 sq foot corner of Brooklyn.  Most thankful that my A/C is still pumping cold air in this 80-90+ degree weather.
The Pledge Campaign was revealed on my birthday (7/14) with a huge response: 20% raised in the first 24 hours. It's such an incredible feeling to know that people are behind my music and my vision. My ideal situation would be to exceed my goal in order to raise money for The SAMFund, an organization near and dear to my heart. One step at a time. We have until September 14th to rock this, and rock we shall.
As we are nearing breakfast time and my stomach is starting to growl, I would like to share an insightful lyric I wrote back in high school, circa age 16:

I'd really like some Chinese food / But you, you're blocking the doorway / I may try to break through / But you'd just stand in my way.

Get outta the way. A girl's gotta eat.

And one last thing to share - as we're gearing up for a fun-filled night of original music and Stevie Wonder tunes on July 24th, I leave you with this:

Watch Me .
xoxo
